Website Security
As websites grow more and more complex, and with more and more people using the web than ever, it’s important that Joshua Communications protects our sites from online attacks.
Backup Files
At Joshua we automatically backup our websites on a daily basis. If something should happen to one of our sites, we simply restore the site instead of rebuilding everything from scratch.
Encrypt Login Pages
We use SSL encryption on our login pages (the encryption that makes https:// appear at the beginning of a URL). Without this hackers can easily access login credentials.
Limit Sharing of Login Credentials
To avoid login credentials falling into the wrong hands, we do not share our login credentials. Additionally we assign a separate account to everyone that has access and deactivate the accounts once that person no longer needs access or is complete with their functions of the website.
Use Strong Passwords
Hackers are always coming up with more and more sophisticated ways of hacking password-protected accounts. We protect our websites by using strong passwords. We use words that have no obvious correlation or association with our websites and consist of random words, numbers, and symbols.
Stay Updated
All sites, plugins and related software are upgraded as soon as updates are released. This minimizes vulnerabilities from experienced hackers.
Use a Secure Host
At Joshua our websites are hosted on a secure web server – BlueHost. BlueHost runs suPHP, which is a tool that allows PHP scripts to run only with the owner’s permission. They also have round the clock active server monitoring, and perform nightly server backups.
Scan Website Regulary
BlueHost works with scanners like SiteLock and Securi Sitecheck to scan our websites for malware and other suspicious pieces of code. This is performed on a monthly basis to insure the sites remain clean.
Stay Vigilant
Joshua in conjunction with BlueHost stay vigilant to scan our sites for suspicious pieces of code. We continue to educate our team on web security so that our sites are protected from hackers.
